Summary/Abstract: The Image in the Orthodox Mission. This article aims to extract some essential aspects regarding the image in the orthodox mission, as an attitude of reconfiguration towards the blast of imaginary phenomena in contemporary society. In the first place missiology and mission have to underlay the pneumatic importance of icon to the Church and its mission, revealing the icon’s potentials. To rich the understanding of how icon operates we have to get beyond the meaning of idol, [sign] and symbol, in order to demarcate the concepts and to establish the connexity between them, helped by adjacent disciplines as philosophy-phenomenology, psychology or iconography. We will proceed to the understanding of media image in comparison with the icon, with all the consequences which appear in the spiritual life. The success of covering the spiritual dimension of the icon reveals a certain kind of vision-visibility, iconic. The element of new consists in the accommodation of iconic vision to love hermeneutic which works in many directions.
