Summary/Abstract: In the article results of empirical studies of the impact of world metal prices upon Central and East European (CEE) countries are presented. Using 2SLS estimates of the 1999- -2014 quarterly time series, it is found that the present decline in the world metal prices has unfavourable effects on the CEE economies. It has been obtained that the exchange rate effects on economic growth and business cycles are quite heterogeneous across CEE countries. Also, it is established that the world financial crisis of 2008-2009 had exerted a much stronger negative impact on the industrial output compared with GDP.
