Summary/Abstract: For more than 15 years, significant changes have been taking place in Europe in the functioning of universities. These concern logistical issues, the organization of teaching, and oversight of universities. These changes are usually referred to as the Bologna process, or the Bologna reform. Their uniqueness lies in the fact that the governments of the countries that are signatories to the Bologna agreements have committed themselves to introducing changes based on a uniform set of principles. The declaration process is intended to create a common Europe-wide system of higher education, allowing for better student mobility, and comparable means of assessing knowledge and the quality of education. In the author’s opinion, the Bologna process is a very dangerous political project, the primary victim of which is the humanities at the university level, which do not generate quick profits. The homogenization of curricula is leading to the disappearance of distinctiveness and uniqueness in programs, and ultimately, to the atrophy of the essence of the existing system of university education, that is, of scientific dispute. In its place, there is formulism, and the perpetuation of knowledge that is easily verifiable and lacking in potential. Under the guise of the Bologna reforms, the particular interests of those in power are being promoted. Research in many countries is shifting to scientific institutes or elite schools that do not follow the Bologna principles.
