Neolithic Altars in Republic of Macedonia

Summary/Abstract: Throughout this paper work, we are elaborating the altars found in the Neolithic settlements in the Republic of Macedonia. According to the basic features of the form, among the altars in Republic of Macedonia, and abroad, we can reveal three basic types: three trestle legs altars, four trestle legs altars, as well as altars without trestle legs which have shallow recipients and do not belong into the category of vessels. Most of the altars found on the territory of Republic of Macedonia have mutual similarities, so their general categorization can partially apply to the rest of this region. As an exception are the local types, that remain authentic phenomena for each region individually.
