External Migration in the Context of Socio-Economic Processes and Its Expected Impact on the Demographic Development of Bulgaria

Summary/Abstract: This report aims at outlining the prospects for the demographic development of Bulgaria in the context of the socio-economic processes, regarding of the potential which the migration inflows possess for alleviating the negative effects of the demographic crisis in the future. The current trends of the population ageing and international migration in the country and EU are identified. The existing external migration management policies in Bulgaria are discussed.
