Summary/Abstract: The article is an attempt to show worldview as the key element of the human psyche (a conglomerationof beliefs) and to highlight its flexibility and dynamism. Everybody has their own individual, worldview, thanks to which one can be fully operational and take an attitude towards the surrounding environment.Taking this into account, it is justifiable to stress the role which worldview plays in maintaining mentalhealth of an individual. If the beliefs which a person holds do not help them in the pursuit of self-realizationand reasonable assessment of reality, it is a sign that the accepted worldview does not meet itsrole, it ceases the individual’s growth and even harms the person. This unfavorable situation may changethrough modifying the individual’s beliefs, attitudes, or, if this is required, through assistance from outside, which is support of a psychotherapist. In the analysis of the therapist’s method of treatment, it isalso worth asking about the extent to which she/he can influence the worldview of the individual andwhether she/he is entitled to do so.
