Summary/Abstract: Rhythmical features of the chronicles “On Borisov’s Murder” are closely examined. The features in focus are characterized by thepresence of several genres both in the structure of this narrative and in the ideologically substantial part of the composition. Therhythmical picture is defined by three themes: an event driven plot, preaching and prayer chants, which are conveyed with the help ofmultiple lexical grammatical means. References to syntactic parallelism and stylistic symmetry, grammatical forms of the same type, and lexemes identical in sounds helped to create the grammatical text rhyme and reflect the melodic mood of the narration. Devotionto canons and the use of the Russian language figurative potential define characteristics of the developing hagiografic genre of “Rus”.
