Summary/Abstract: The article is devoted to the possibilities offered by the digital humanities as a critical reflective enterprise, for which a fundamental feature would a continued questioning of the status of computing and the tools it creates, and the way they are incorporated into the socio-cultural milieu (and produced within it). For this reason, it is important to take a closer look at the issue of media competence on the basis of contemporary teaching practices at various levels. I suggest a shift in focus from the assimilation of new tools (digital and network) to their production – not only to help create tools that better meet the needs of the humanities, but also to increase the level of reflection on the digital humanities
