Summary/Abstract: The rules of the economic system have an effect on other subsystems of social reality and modify traditional forms of social life. An important role in the structure of modern society is played by communities of interest, assembled around a topic of common interest, passion or aesthetic preferences. Such communities are a hybrid phenomenon which combines the features of a traditional community and a modern association. They are ephemeral social forms, which may be a subject of empirical observation during an event – a mass meeting which is a form of consumption of feelings and experiences. This article is an attempt to analyse the impact of communities of interest on different areas of social life.
