Summary/Abstract: The point of interest in this article are politeness forms that in contemporary Polishtexts are used ironically, for example: szanowny pan, być tak uprzejmym, or are goingout of use as politeness forms and begin to function as exponents of ironic content, forexample: raczyć [coś zrobić], z łaski swojej, łaskawie. The language data from NKJP, as wellas blogs, chats, online forums and e-mails, demonstrates that the politeness forms tendto lexicalize in new meanings and functions. What is distinctive for the units extracted inthis way is that they may not be actualized with the so-called neutral prosody, typical forpurely declarative sentences.
