Summary/Abstract: Prayer is an irreplaceable part of religious life. Almost all world religions are familiar with not only spoken prayer but also with silent prayer. This paper deals with that way of human establishing relations with absolute secret or God. It firstly defines what a silent prayer is, then analyzes attitudes of two prominent Catholic philosophers about that kind of prayer, Karl Rahner and Berhnard Welte. These theologians agree that Christian religion perceives silent prayer as a prayer in which the Holy Spirit intervenes for us in front of God. They also agree that God can always be addressed with “you”, regardless of the fact that he is above every category and that he always stays unutterable and incomprehensible secret. In other words, God has all attributes of a person, in analogue sense of course. In silent prayer a human discovers foundation of their own personality. Uniting with God, they unite with themselves and with all people, not losing their uniqueness.
