Summary/Abstract: The subject of my interest in this text is the most recent book of selected poems by Jerzy Ficowski, "Views From the Left Side", edited and with an afterword by Peter Sommer. I look at the choice of the poems in the context of the current place of Ficowski’s works on the map of contemporary poetry, and in the context of Sommer’s role as an interpreter and intermediary in the reception of this poetry, taking into account in particular the ethical foundations of Ficowski’s poetic gestures, focusing on an interpretation of the poem "The Ringelblum Archives", which has not appeared in earlier collections.
