Summary/Abstract: The aim of the article is to analyze the relations between the market and the statein the People’s Republic of China. In 2013, the Chinese authorities officially declaredthat they had established market economy and recognized the market as theregulator of economic processes. The problem is, however, that no effective stateinstitutions were created to oversee the market. This led to tensions in the Chineseeconomy for the first time since the launching of reforms in 1979 (sharp downturnsat the Shanghai Stock Exchange, capital outflow, depreciation of the yuan). Theseevents overshadowed the good results of the Chinese economy in 2015, reflected inthe growth of domestic product by 6.9 per cent.
