Summary/Abstract: The subject of the present paper is to focus on the psychedelic experience, perceived by the author as a coherent, repeatable phenomenon. This was enabled by analyzing stories collected from people who admitted to using speci c psychoactive substances. The author was inspired by a group of University of Harvard researchers who were actively involved in the American counter-culture of the 1960s. This group attempted to explain the following phenomenon using Eastern philosophy and religion. In contradiction to this idea, the author proposes a different method based on Western traditions of philosophy and social sciences.
