Summary/Abstract: There are unchangeable elements characteristic for institutes of consecratedlife and societies of apostolic life functioning within the Church. These elementsare present since the very moment the mentioned institutes exist. Theyinclude, above all, thought and intention of their founder regarding nature, purpose and character of an institute and its tradition as well. All of whichconstitute the patrimony of the same institute. It was of constant concern ofthe Church to maintain intitutes’ fidelity to their original charisma. This papershows four dimentions of the pastoral concern mentioned as the examplesonly. At first, it is visible in the reneval of monastic life, especially after theSecond Vatican Council. Secondly, we find it in the words directed to membersof institutes and societies by the Church leaders, next is to be found inthe acts of approval and revising the constitution by ecclesiastical authorities, and finally the fourth is in the addressed to the Apostolic See obligatory reportsof institutes.
