Summary/Abstract: The article concerns with the main ideas of Kant's text The Conflict of the Faculties. Kant interprets the relation between the state and different academic disciplines in original way: the main criterion of the division of the faculties is their benefits for the state. This strongly resembles nowadays discussions concerning the nature of sciences and the financial issues of scientific research. Thus, we seek to evaluate the issues of the applicability of Kant' ideas in contemporary science-related debates.
