Summary/Abstract: The types of information about Gypsies published in „Gwiazdka Cieszynska”, a Polish periodical released in Cieszyn since 1851 can be categorized twofold. One included general information about the ethnic group and provided the inhabitants with basic knowledge about the origin and history of Romani people. The other type presented current affairs, usually referring to the criminal activity of Gypsies in Cieszyn Silesia. „Gwiazdka Cieszynska” did not stigmatize this ethnic group and one could even find information on good relations between Gypsies and the natives of the region.
