Summary/Abstract: This thesis deals with the unique nature of proper names viewed as monuments of culture and therefore as linguistic monuments that contain meanings assigned to them by their creators and supplemented by subsequent users. The author has discussed the nature of transformations which both proper names and their referents undergo.
