Summary/Abstract: Flood risk management is the recent methodology of lowering flood hazard in the urban areas. One of the important aspects of the flood risk is the exposure to the flood risk due to an improper settlement location. The spatial planning and estimation of the exposure to flood can be done on the basis of proper information of extreme floods. Three methods of maximum historical floods range and discharge estimation has been discussed. The example of the Vistula River in Warsaw has been used as a case study.
