Smart development pillars and NUTS 2 European regions vulnerability to economic crisis – a multidimensional analysis

Summary/Abstract: The aim of the paper is to verify the hypothesis stating that smart development level of NUTS 2 regions in the three pillars: smart specialization, creative regions and inno-vativeness, influences vulnerability of regions to economic crisis in three spheres: economy, labour market and households. In the analysis for 2006–2001 period the following methods have been used: correlation between composite indexes, one way analysis of variance of vulnerability indices between groups formed by smart development, chi-squared test for in-dependence for classes separately formed for smart development and vulnerability to crises.
