Summary/Abstract: This paper deals with distinctive similarities in the concepts of community posited by the German nationalistic author E.G. Kolbenheyer and the fantasy author Gustav Meyrink based on shared cultural and historical paradigms. Despite the divergent ideologies and themes found in their texts, a comparative analysis with reference to the popular term “Gemeinschaft” (community), coined by the sociologist Ferdinand Tönnies, shows that both authors present the German-Czech national conflict as part of a superordinated form of “Gemeinschaft”. The social principle allows for a nuanced perspective on the process of disintegration between Germans and Czechs in Bohemia.
