Summary/Abstract: The article presents observations on the Slavonic copies of the Canticles – lyrical excerpts from the Bible which follow the kathismata in the manuscript and printed psalters. The impact of the peculiarities of the two types of Greek manuscript psalters – Constantinopolitan and Palestine – on the Slavonic manuscript tradition is examined. The nine Canticles, characteristic of the Palestine type, play an important role in the Christian service, since the nine odes of the canon are based on them. The differences in composition, arrangement and headings of the Canticles in the psalter manuscripts, as well as their peculiarities in the psalters with commentary and in the Croat Glagolitic psalters are analysed in the article.
