Summary/Abstract: The article looks into certain features of the vocabulary of the Theology (De fide orthodoxa) with a view to its further study. Analysed are the lexemes which are not included in the major lexicographic works on Old Bulgarian or are attested only in the Theology, as well as the meaning of words known from other monuments but with a different meaning. A list of the synonyms of secondary importance or of rare words preferred by John the Exarch is attached where they are compared with the words predominant in the language of Classical Old Bulgarian and Preslav literature. A comparison is made of the Theology with Supr. and some other works from Simeon’s age, preserved in more recent copies, in order to establish the vocabulary common for these monuments. The existence of pairs of synonyms known as Cyrillomethodianisms and Preslavisms in the Theology is given special consideration.
