Summary/Abstract: The newly-discovered Old Bulgarian Canon for Whit Sunday is published together withthe iambic canon of John of Damascus.The acrostic formed by the initial letters of the verses in the heirmoi and the troparia reveals the characteristic features of Old Bulgarian and the Old Bulgarian glagolitic script.The text of the newly-discovered Old Bulgarian Canon for Whit Sunday is new and important evidence of the wide use of the acrostic and the skilful application of its most complicated metric form in the hymnographic practice of the disciples of Cyril and Methodius.
