Summary/Abstract: The constitution of USA wind bands repertory from the point of view of the relationship between originally written and transcribed music pieces is the subject or this article. Transcribing of the works written for other performing mediums for the wind band is very old and even conventional practice. But in later years the trend to perform more originally written compositions than transcriptions can be observed. The wind bands of the United States were chosen as a research subject because this country is in the top of the progress of the wind bands and their repertory development. The concert programs of the USA wind bands were analyzed in order to reveal the percentage of the transcribed works in their repertory in 1996–2005.
