Summary/Abstract: The divine throne surrounded by angels is a topos in both the Jewish and Christian religions, and in the Islamic one: the image is present in the mystical and liturgical texts of all three traditions. The Sanctus of the Christian Eucharist expresses the participation of the earthly celebrating assembly in heavenly worship and this participation is also documented in all three religions. In some Christian texts of the second century of Asian origin, the Easter Omelies, studied and published by Raniero Cantalamessa, the celestial cult welcomes the emotional component of angelic mourning due to the death of Christ.
