Summary/Abstract: Mithat Frashëri was born on March 25th, 1879 in Janinë, and died in October the 3rd, 1949 in New York, USA. He was the son of Abdyl Frashëri and a nephew of Sami and Naim Frashëri. He knew very little his father and grew up under the care of Sami and Naim. Academic education has finished in Istanbul. After finishing school, until 1905, he worked in Turkish administration and later went to Selanik, in state administration. On April 4th, 1929 Mithat Frashëri in his testament leaves his property to the state of Albania, movable and immovable, with intention of establishing an Albanological Institution in Tirana, which would deal with studies in the field of Albania’s history. He began to be active in Albanian policy since the end of nineteenth century. He was one of the most prominent figures in Albanian policy in the first half of twentieth century. In 1908, he starts edition of the news-paper "Liria" in Selanik. On November 28th, 1912 he participated in the event of declaration of Albania’s Independence. On 1918 Mithat is nominated as portfolio Minister in the Gover-nment of Turhan Pashë Mehmeti from the National Assembly of Durrës and as a member of Albanian delegation in Peace Conference in Paris. In 1919 he was a delegate of pan Albanian Association – Vatra in USA, in Peace Conference in Paris and League of Nations. The years 1920-1921 constitute the peak of Mithad Frashëri’s dip-lomatic work in Peace Conference, League of Nations in Geneva and in Conference of Ambassadors. He continued the work of Albanian dele-gation in Peace Conference led by Turhan Pasha and followed with devotion by Monsignor Luigj Bumçi, At Gjergj Fishta, Fan S. Noli, Dr. Turtulli etc. During 1923-1926, Mithat Frashëri as an ambassador of Albania in Athens, developed useful diplomatic and national activity, which arose quite a lot the prestige of Albania and its state and also helped quite a lot communication and cooperation between two neighboring nations and countries. Mithat Frashëri strived for a good vicinage and general coo-pe-ration with Greece and other neighboring countries. This request for vicinage, friendship and peace in Southeastern Europe required to be developed on the basis of reciprocity, respect of national dignity and un-involvement in each other’s internal affairs. Diplomat Frashëri, which followed closely political developments in Greece, approached to Greece Government in order to disperse illegal Sillog of Vorio-Epiri, which exer-cised pronounced anti-Albanian activity and tensioned relations between two countries. Requests and rapports presented to the Council of League of Na-tions made Fan Noli, Mithat Frashëri, Benoit Blinishti, Mehmet Konica, Rauf Fico and numerous other Albanian diplomats, in a special meeting of this Council in years 1923-1928 to express the position of Albanian Government in protection of çams. Undoubtedly in this direction special endeavors and contributions were made also by Mithat Frashëri.
