Spatial and financial aspects of the activity of protected area on the example of Kampinos National Park

Summary/Abstract: The article presents the national park not only as an area; but also as an active governing unit. Empirical research has been conducted (between 2008 and 2014) using data from the financial-accounting records of the Wolin National Park (KNP) and from the Central Statistical Office. The study included an analysis of the degree to which the municipalities connected with the KNP through their territory realised the tourist function; as well as an analysis of overall KNP activity. The particular emphasis was placed on the unusual; for the protected area; proximity of a metropolis. The activities carried out by Kampinos National Park have impact on the development of territorially connected municipalities by creating the tourism function. It also influences the quality of life of the capital city residents.
