Summary/Abstract: Through the analysis of newspapers BH Dani, Ljiljan, Hrvatska Gruda this paper researches women representation in the war periodicals in the period from 1992 to 1995. Analysis of Bosnian and Croatian newspapers and women representation in then is divided into five categories: editorial, press workers, texts authorization, photos and women representation in those texts. Due to the information war or media war which was carried out, in case analysis, two of three constitutive and equal nations of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croats and Bosniaks, representation of women on the media stage of that period was defined. Research has shown that women were on social and political events margin, even in time of war events and reporting about them. Women are presented from the classical point of view through private sphere of life (mother, housemate, housewife), and men through public sphere of social life (politicians, generals, soldiers). The texts which give minor contribution to women differ in the case of newspapers of these two nations, women in Bosniak newspapers are observed from the religious point of view according to which women’s place is not in war but in the house and often point out a woman’s look, while Croatian newspapers also give a women role of mother, or wife, grandmother, but they do not point her physical looks, they allude more on psychological state of a women. This discrimination, stereotypes and conservative point of view on women’s role are reflection of patriarchal society in which men have main and leading role in almost every area of social life starting from media. Democratic steps in transition from one political system to other have not contributed to gender and sex awareness of the society, but there are some steps forward after fifteen years from the war, but they are not significant.
