Summary/Abstract: Every historical period is marked with certain ideal of beauty. That ideal is a replication of beauty stereotype of a certain culture and society which produces those stereotypes. During history visual documents, which testify about stereotypical representation of women, were paintings and sculptures. Today the most significant visual documents are photographs, without which the contemporary media reality is inconceivable. Photographs in women magazines, concretely photographs in Cosmopolitan, the most famous not only Croatian but also world magazine, have been the most suitable platform for researching contemporary ideal of beauty in representing a woman body. Contemporary ideal of beauty, represented in that magazine, was defined by the content analysis: contemporary stereotypical ideal of the woman beauty presented in Cosmopolitan is a thin woman with fair skin and emphasized waist. Her face does not show her age; her perfect face without any discontinuity is always with makeup and natty. Her smile reveals immaculate, white and even teeth. An ideal woman’s hair is brown, long and always perfectly done.
