Summary/Abstract: On the occasion of celebrating May 3, the world day of media freedom, the author analyzes situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, with the special emphasis on “Women representation in media” on the Radio of Herzeg- Bosnia in the pre-election period 2010. According to the research of non-governmental association FREEDOM HOUSE Bosnia and Herzegovina was ranked as 96th out of 196 countries. Secretary General of UN Ban Ki-Moon points out that this issue is too important for all countries, especially countries of East and South-East Europe which are in transition. United Nations invited all the countries of the world to promote media freedom, because democracy of one country is measured by media freedom. It was evaluated that media in Bosnia and Herzegovina are under big influence of politics and other powers. Women representation in media is closely connected to media freedom. Besides that, the author deals with European convention on gender equality and Law on equality which was adopted in Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2003, but it has not been applied that much. The research shown that electronic media in Bosnia and Herzegovina had advance over printed media as far as this topic is concerned.
