Summary/Abstract: The goal of the Paper is to demonstrate the purposefulness of the approach to establishing a common on-line repository of Masters and PhD theses completed at the University of Sarajevo. The aim of creating an on-line repository of scientific papers at the University of Sarajevo, in the first phase, is to gather all available Masters and PhD theses, and, in the second phase, students’ seminar and diploma papers, as well as conference papers, in order to provide the academia and scientists with an easy and direct access to the existing scientific information for the purposes of their further research. The third phase would include setting up a repository for the entire academic community of Bosnia and Herzegovina, with the possibility for other universities from Bosnia and Herzegovina to store the results of their scientific research activities. We used grey literature repositories from renowned schools and universities of Europe and the USA as a role-model. They often serve as the sole source of reference and the starting point of specialized scientific research projects. These projects facilitate promoting learning, teaching and research. The Paper emphasizes the significance of publishing scientific information in a digital format in order to improve research, and of the fact that the implementation of projects such as this one helps integrate universities that create permanent results thanks to joint investments and team work. The realization of this project would bring us a step closer to providing access to information, which is the basis of the librarian profession and the true purpose of libraries.
