Standard of Students Seen as a Factor of the Bologna Process

Summary/Abstract: If a student was to explain the meaning of the Bologna process, incomplete or incorrect answers would most probably follow. Not knowing the principles of the studies is an obstacle on the way to progress and improvement. Implementation of the Bologna process at the Sarajevo Pedagogical Academy started in the academic year of 2005/2006, which means that this institution will promote the first Bologna graduates this year. The Bologna Declaration, more precisely, the European higher education space, has focused all the changes onto a student. That does not mean, however, that the student is in the focus of the process’ implementation. This is where all problems arise. Every institution of higher education and every lecturer has accepted individually and partially the implementation of the Bologna Process and, together with it, the students’ standard. Pedagogical Academy is not able; in spite all the efforts, to realize all the demands of the Bologna Process. Lack of classrooms and teaching aids disables the implementation of the Bologna Process and all that, in return, affects the students’ standard. Lack of agreement in relation to the degree awarded to the students once they graduate is only another obstacle for progress of the students. This paper will present all the lacks, as well as advantages of the Bologna Process implementation at the Pedagogical Academy, as well as the students’ standard.
