Summary/Abstract: In the 1990s the majority of the countries of post socialist transformation introduced a novelty into their pension systems namely mandatory funded pillar was created. In Poland the funds that were cut off from the obligatory insurance system, so called Open Pension Funds (OFEs), were put under utterly new rules of the game. The paper identifies new interests induced within the “pension industry” due to this reform, with focus on group interests of private companies that manage OFEs that is Pension Funds (PTEs). The perspective taken here is the one of political economy. Mandatory funded pension insurance constitutes the subject of the paper. Investigation is aimed at finding whether this novelty has enhanced the pension-insurance market in Poland. The method relies on orderly analysis which is founded on review of the literature relevant to the subject and is carried on according to the premises taken.
