Summary/Abstract: The article begins with an overview of the construction of divine and ecclesial communion and its critique. Following on from this an analysis of communio ecclesiology will be offered. This will be focused on the Augustinian understanding that ‘Eucharist makes the Church and Church makes Eucharist’ in the mystical exchange of the Body of Christ in Holy Communion.
