Summary/Abstract: Since the 60s of the 20th century archives in the former Yugoslavia started to prepare standardized archival finding aids and prepare and publish archival guides. Printed archival guides contained a multilevel and comprehensive standardized description of archival holdings and were usually the result of many years of work of archive workers. The development of the Internet and web technology has enabled a relatively quick creation of online archival guides and they were introduced in the Croatia, Slovenia and Bosnia - Herzegovina’s archive practice at the beginning of the 21st century. Online archival guides can be created as the special web applications using CMS (Content Management System) or as e-books, mostly in the PDF. Their navigation and organization of content are in line with national archival classification. The advantages of online guides in relation to the printed editions is the low price, availability over the Internet, the possibility of frequent and regular content updates and full text search capabilities. However, publishing of the printed editions continues and contribute strongly to the information infrastructure of archives.
