Formation of the Actant of the Verb ’to be afraid’ in the Komi-Permyak Language

Summary/Abstract: The ways of formation of the actant of the verb ’to be afraid’ in the Komi-Permyak language are described. Some models of verb control are formulated, the factors influencing the choice between competing means are defined, diachronic changes in the ways of actant formation are considered. It is established that the same model of verb control works for ’to be afraid’ in the Komi-Zyryan and northern Komi-Permyak dialects. In southern dialects a tendency for the split coding of the actant is observed.
