Summary/Abstract: The problem of reconstituting the nomenclature of the classical texts concerns all the aspects of the language: vocabulary, sounds, morphology and syntax. In our paper we shall insist on the lexical problems by analysing the words from the point of view of their evolution and their changes of sense and we shall begin by those most frequently used in the works of Molière, Racine and Corneille. We shall give their etymons, their significances in the 17th century, the way in which they should be translated into Romanian and, if necessary, examples of good or bad translastions taken from different translators. We propose a classification of the nomenclature of the classical texts from a semantical point of view. We have to deal with a historical classification that is a virtual one because the sense the words had in the 17th century have disappeared. Thus we deal with a historical polysemy which means that the words brought into discussion have similar semes in the nowaday’s language.
