Summary/Abstract: This paper is interested in the tradition-innovation relationship through an art album dedicated to a new creation in Paris’ architecture: la Villette. The analyses are concentrated on the poetical interpretation given by the French writer Jean Rouaud, who signs the text accompanying the photos – reproductions of the most interesting parts of this hybrid space. La Villette represents an example of modern architecture built on a field occupied by an ancient slaughterhouse and who wants to celebrate the progress of humanity, in a very close relation to a scientific and cultural tradition and with a ludic pleasure.
