Power of Turkey in the Globalization Process: A Political, Military and Economic Evaluation

Summary/Abstract: The globalization process - consisted of various dimensions such as economic, political, technological/communicative, environmental/demographic and cultural - brings about radical changes in shaping the world we live in; and has influence on Turkey in a variety of ways, similar with the case of other countries. However, the crucial point to emphasize here by looking at the other side of the coin is that Turkey could influence the globalization process in several ways, as well. Compared to many other countries, Turkey has a much more advanced capacity to influence the globalization process. The primary reason for that is Turkey’s political, military and economic power. Through this multi-dimensional power, Turkey acquires the opportunity to conduct active regional and global policies. The present study aims at examining these aforementioned political, military and economic power elements of Turkey in the globalization process.
