Summary/Abstract: Treating of the statements of the Czech Bishops’ Conference, particularly of its pastoral letters, makes clear this is often used to give clear words on new challenges. The thematic analysis shows clear division of the statements surveyed: first the statements targeted within the Church community, secondly statements oriented to the Church’s community with transcendence into civil society, and thirdly statements aimed at civil society. In contrast with the statements targeted in the Church community, statements oriented to civil society have found greater resonance and importance for public opinion. Over the years we can observe that it is worthier to emphasize the principle of subsidiarity in the internal ecclesiastical questions, and vice versa centralization is preferred in statements on social issues.
