Summary/Abstract: A TELEVISION INVESTIGATIVE REPORT AS ENTERTAINMENT. THE MODES OF NARRATIVE DRAMA Summary In contemporary television the entertainment does not only serve to bring pleasure to its audience. Its purpose is to engage the viewer in the process of watching, which can be achieved by inducing emotional tension and internal excitement. In the article, the following modes of narration are discussed based on the example of three investigative reports made for Superwizjer, a television programme broadcast by the TVN station: emotional and evaluative author’s narration (off the screen voice), hidden camera and journalist provocation. The aim of these three strategies is to dramatize the content (to make it sensational and spectacular). These modes are identified by the audience with genre conventions of reality TV (subordinate to entertainment) and the codes of a documentary film, thus enhancing the sense of reality of a given content and increasing the viewers’ involvement in the process of watching the television.
