Summary/Abstract: The topics of the paper are Czech textile terms borrowed from German. The nomenclatures of diverse crafts took especially in the past in those spheres of lexicon place, which have been, in connection with technologic developments, frequently affected by foreign languages. German, or more precisely its different temporal and regional varieties, traditionally played the most important role of donor languages in Czech. Using the example of Czech textile terminology it is not only possible to study the influx of Germanisms in Czech and to analyze the processes of their adaptation, but also to aim to define their origin, i.e. when and where they were borrowed from.
