Summary/Abstract: This article consists of two parts. The first part investigates the nature of export business promotion via discussion of three aspects: the behavior of companies, the organizational support of business and the impact of the package of measures. Three possible models are emphasized for providing export-encouraging services. The second part examines the policy on export promotion, which includes a set of programs and measures to promote and develop trade with other countries. A structure with mixed funding - public and private - is proposed for the current Bulgarian conditions.
