Summary/Abstract: The article goes over the main achievements in the field of Romanian Anthroponymy from its beginnings up to the second half of the 20th century. The author comments with a critical perspective on the works of Damian P. Bogdan, B.P. Hasdeu, Vasile Bogrea, I.-A. Candrea, Nicolae Draganu, Gh. Baritiu, Silviu Dragan, Stefan Pasca etc. A special part of the article deals with the anthroponymy terminology, the author suggesting that it should be unified so that confusions are avoided.
