Social and psychological characteristics of perpetrators of robberies that end up with murder against elderly people

Summary/Abstract: There is an increase in the number of violent crimes against elderly people in recent years. It is difficult to comprehend why the majority of the cases are robberies that end up with murder, characterized by outstanding cruelty exercised towards the victims. An important component in the investigation of this kind of crime is the careful examination of the perpetrator, the victim and the act itself. Through analysis of real case studies, a study will be conducted, considering the individual and situational factors determining the dynamics of the criminal motivation and the reasons for the escalation of aggression in the criminal act in particular. In addition, an outline will be made, demonstrating the basic socio-psychological characteristics of perpetrators of such crimes.
