Summary/Abstract: Dimitrow (1882-1949), once secretary general of the Comintern as well as Bulgarian party and cabinet boss, prophet of the "antifascist people's front" and also of the "antiimperialist united front" (1935), has acquired a new importance in view of the present agitation for cooperation on the one hand between Communists and Social Democrats and on the other between Communists an the Third World. The man, who has shown more disdain for Stalin's autocratic methods than other state and party leaders, is being used both by those defending the Soviet leadership within the bloc and by those favoring greater national autonomy; he is being quoted in favor of greater in¬dependence for the national parties and also in support of his slogan that "the attitude toward the Soviet Union is the touch stone for the sincerity of a communist". Also his plans for a Balkan federation are being discussed again.
