Summary/Abstract: The article makes use of recently discovered sources, namely letters of the Generals of the Society of Jesus to Jesuits in the Bohemian province which were found in the Roman archive of Societas Iesu. The author follows complex relations between the Prague Archbishop Jan Bedřich z V aldštejna [Johann Friedrich von Waldstein] and the Society of Jesus represented by the order’s General and representatives of the Bohemian province. Their disagreement concerned the General’s nomination of Emanuel de Boye to the post of Provincial Superior.
