On the Memory of Parish Clergy. Baroque Confraternities in the Testaments of Clergy

Summary/Abstract: Using two samples of last wills of lay clergy from mid-17th and 18th century, the author analyses the proportion of legacies for religious confraternities. This includes the overview of their numbers, value of the gift, nature (whether finance, real estate or foundations), and the character of service required in return (requiems and prayers). The study follows the trends and changes during the century under examination.
