Summary/Abstract: The question of European Union’s shifting borders has undergone multiple perspectival changes and has always been under strict both vertical and horizontal observation; the article tries to underline the coverage press of EU enlargement and EU’s changing frontiers not only in terms of quantitative data but most precisely in terms of quality and prioritisation and to identify the common misconceptions when dealing with European identity borders. The media-induced effects on interpreting the identity borders aspect in communication of EU policy sheds light on the dynamics of how the media agenda is formed. By analysing specific media content characteristics exceeding the simple reckoning of EU news visibility, the article gives new insights regarding the relationship between EU events and news coverage. By probing the discursive structural consequences of media politicisation and its influences upon public opinion, I intend to extricate the content from language and framing procedures in order to indicate the common (or induced) media misconceptions regarding EU’s identity borders. Furthermore, I will give several recommendations on objectively communicating EU matters, especially EU borders related issues.
